Father Ollie Wiliams, C.S.C. is quoted in an article in
the Cape Town Book Fair "The Literary MBA in SA – Too Good to be True" Williams feels strongly that any MBA programme must offer students an understanding of ethical frameworks. “Just as they have to have a conceptual framework to adequately comprehend accountancy, finance and marketing, so they need something that creates and reinforces an overarching world view.”
John F. Sherry Jr., Herrick Professor and Chair of Marketing, recently received “best paper” recognition from the Marketing Science Institute for his working paper describing how companies progress through certain stages in order to become more market-oriented. “Creating a Market Orientation: A Longitudinal, Multifirm, Grounded Analysis of Cultural Transformation” won the annual Robert D. Buzzell Best MSI Working Paper Award for 2008. The award recognizes papers that have made the most significant contribution to marketing practices and thought over a two year period, and signals writing and research that has lasting value to corporate marketing executives, according to the institute.

The formula for determining the awardee divides the number of votes a professor receives by the average number of students taught by the professor over a three-year period.
For 2008, the professors receiving the highest percentage as defined above are (in alphabetical order): Carl Ackermann, Matt Bloom, Margie Forster, Ed Hums, and Frank Reilly. This year's BP Outstanding Teacher is Professor Matt Bloom. Please join me in congratulating Matt. This year's Mendoza College of Business recipients of Joyce Awards are Professors Ed Hums and Tim Loughran. Please join me in congratulating Ed and Tim. |
